Honor Band and Orchestra

The Honor Band/Orchestra is an enrichment program of the PGCPS Instrumental Music Department. It performs advanced literature and is open to advanced students in middle and high school. The Honor Band/Orchestra has several rehearsals prior to the concert, typically outside of the regular school day. Students must be enrolled in their school instrumental music class to be eligible. Any student interested must complete the audition registration, perform the correct audition music, and required scales for the audition.

AUDITION DATE: APRIL 9, 2026

TIME: 6 - 9 PM (MUST ARRIVE BY 8:30 PM TO BE GUARANTEED AN AUDITION)

What is it?:

• Middle school honor ensembles offer students an exceptional musical experience beyond their everyday ensemble. It brings together top young musicians from across the county to rehearse and perform advanced repertoire. Students grow their technical skills, broaden their musical perspectives, and challenge themselves in a supportive, high-achieving environment. Beyond musical development, honor band and orchestra builds confidence, fosters new friendships with like-minded peers, and provides meaningful accomplishments that strengthen college and scholarship applications. It’s an inspiring opportunity for students to excel, connect, and take pride in their artistry while performing for the community.
