During the 2023 National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, golf cars will be available for players to share during practice and competition rounds (two cars per group). Players are allowed caddies during the Championship, however caddies must walk at all times during practice and/or Championship rounds. In order to attend and participate in the 2023 National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, caddies must adhere to the following policies and regulations. Caddies will not be available nor provided through PGA of America or PGA Golf Club.
Caddies must wear smooth, rubber-soled shoes. No golf spikes of any kind will be permitted.
All caddies are required to present a neat appearance, appropriate to a Major Professional Golf Championship in both clothing and grooming. All caddies must wear a collared shirt.
Male Caddies: May wear shorts or slacks during ALL rounds of competition. Shorts must be hemmed, not more than 2” above the knee, and professional looking in appearance.
Female Caddies: May wear shorts, skorts, golf skirts/dresses or slacks during ALL rounds of competition. All attire must be hemmed appropriately for a Major Professional Golf Championship.
Failure to comply with any aspect of the foregoing requirements may result in suspension of a caddie’s authorization to participate in the Assistant PGA Professional Championship.
Caddies may walk on the greens to chart information during practice rounds as long as this does not interfere with the practice of any Contestant. Caddies may not walk on any green behind the PGA Rules Committee after 2:00p.m. on Wednesday, November 15. Caddies may not walk on greens when checking hole locations, nor may they interfere with play during Championship rounds. Additionally, during the tournament proper when not caddying during a round, caddies are not allowed on any hole that has been played or is being played by the lead group. Caddies are only allowed on the practice putting greens to retrieve chip shots or long putts, provided that the putting green is not crowded at such time.
Caddies may not bet or wager on any aspect of the Assistant PGA Professional Championship, nor may they provide any information concerning a Contestant and/or the Assistant PGA Professional Championship to a party that the caddie knows, or has reason to believe, will use or is likely to use the information in connection with gambling on the Championship.
Only players will be allowed to ride in a golf car (no caddies or spectators) and only two* golf cars will be allowed per group. Unless permitted to ride by The Professional Golfers’ Association of America (The PGA of America) Rules Committee, violation of this golf car rule by the player or their caddie will subject the player to a $100 fine. Requests to use a golf car for disabilities must be submitted to the PGA of America in writing on or before the entry deadline at www.pgatournaments.com/forms.html. Procedures for review may be requested by the player/caddie at any time prior to the entry deadline.
*Exception: A “Riding Scorer” volunteer will be assigned to ride with each group on Saturday (Round 3) and Sunday (Final Round) for live scoring purposes.
Each caddie unconditionally and irrevocably grants and assigns to The PGA of America, without limitation, the right to use his/her name, image, voice and likeness in television, radio, motion picture, photographic, internet, social media, electronic, and all other media (whether now in existence or hereafter created) in connection with the caddie’s participation in the Assistant PGA Professional Championship. No caddie shall take any action that interferes with The PGA of America’s ownership of the rights hereunder granted and assigned.
Failure of any caddie to comply with any aspect of the aforementioned regulations/requirements will result in his/her immediate removal from club property. The PGA shall reserve the right to determine caddie eligibility.
Players shall be responsible for the conduct and behavior of their caddies.
Caddie assumes all risk and danger incidental to participation in the Championship, and releases The PGA of America, PGA Tournament Corporation, Inc., PGA Golf Club, their affiliates and subsidiaries from any and all liabilities from any cause.
