Two different fittings exist for buddy breathing systems and regulator fittings, Hansen-Type fittings and Rectus-Type fittings. Both are found on Scott Air-Paks with the Scott EBSS being available in both Hansen and Rectus type fittings meeting the 2013 edition of NFPA 1981, and the UEBSS being available in only Rectus-Type fittings meeting the updated 2018 edition of NFPA 1981.
Within the PFD Hansen-Type fittings will be found on training Air-Paks in the EBSS and the regulator fitting. In addition they can be found on duel manifolds (EBSS) on some RIT-Pak III bags. While Rectus-Type fittings are found on all frontline Air-Paks and RIT-Paks in the UEBSS and regulator fitting.
Characterizations
Hansen-Type fittings are characterized by a skinner bore diameter in addition to a single rounded angled sloped locking flange.
Rectus-Type fittings are characterized by a wider bore diameter in addition to a thinner rounded angled sloped locking flange compared to the thicker internal width of the locking flange on the Hansen-Type fitting.
