TCESD #2 operates a variety of different apparatus including 5 Engine Companies, 2 Quint Companies, 4 Squads, 4 Medic Units, 5 Brush Trucks, Blocker 201, and different command elements including the 5 Command Vehicles, 2 Battalions, and Safety 201.
Engine Companies are staffed with a minimum of 2 Firefighters, an Apparatus Specialist, and a Lieutenant.
Quint Companies are staffed with a minimum of 3 Firefighters, an Apparatus Specialist, and a Captain.
Squads are staffed with a Firefighter and Commanded by an Apparatus Specialist or Lieutenant. Stations 202, 207, and 208 require a Paramedic to be assigned.
Medic Units are staffed with a Firefighter and a Paramedic.
Brush Trucks are typically cross-staffed by either an Engine or Quint Company but can be staffed to mimic Squad staffing.
Blocking 201 is housed out of Station 204 and is staffed with an Apparatus Specialist and a Firefighter.
Command Vehicles are operated by the Fire Chief and the Executive Chiefs of the Department. Each chief is assigned a vehicle but command vehicles are not staffed 24 hours a day.
Battalions are staffed with 2 people including an Accountability Officer or an Accountability Specialist and a Battalion Chief. TCESD #2 has 2 battalions, Battalion 201 operating out of the Central Fire Station (Station 201) which houses the Shift Commander, and Battalion 202 out of Station 204.
Safety 201 operates out of Station 205 which is staffed by a Firefighter and a Captain.
Typical designations for these apparatus are a 3-digit number combination always starting with the number 2 to indicate Travis County Emergency Service District #2. This is followed by a second number indicating the station assignment and a third number indicating the number of that type of apparatus operating out of the station. For example, Quint 251 is an ESD #2 apparatus operating out of Station 5 and is the only quint company staffed at that station. There are exceptions to this rule but this is the standard designation for the county.
Engine companies are the primary suppression apparatus of the Pflugerville Fire Department. A total of 5 different engine companies operate within the borders of Travis County ESD #2 staffed at Fire Stations 201, 202, 203, 204, and 206. An additional 4 reserve engines and 1 training engine are also stored around the district. The primary function of these engines is to respond to calls for service and provide suppression capabilities for any sort of fire that is to break out within the district.
All frontline engine companies are equipped with two 200' 1 3/4" crosslays and a 200' 2 1/2" crosslay in minuteman-style loads. In addition all engine companies are equipped with a 100' bumper line in a scorpion load. Unique to engine companies is a complement of 1000' of 5" supply hose and 800' of 3" hose both flat loaded. Engines 280, 290, 211, and 201 have their 2 1/2" hose deploying off the rear of the engine while all other engines have the 2 1/2" located next to the 1 3/4" crosslays. Engine 270 has the 3" in a split load style with one side having the female coupling deploying off first and the other side having the male coupling deploying first.
Engine 211 and Engine 201 (former Engine 231 and Engine 241) are 2021 Ferrara Inferno MVP 1000 Rescue Pumpers.

In the Pflugerville Fire Department all aerial apparatus known as quints in TCESD #2 have pumping capabilities to maintain our all-hazard response model. Quints are defined by the 5 functions that they provide. These functions are defined by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) as having:
A fire pump with a capacity of at least 1,000 gallons per minute.
A water tank that can hold at least 300 gallons.
At least 40 cubic feet of enclosed compartment storage.
Suction hose, including a minimum of 15 feet of soft suction hose or 20 feet of hard suction hose for drafting water.
An aerial ladder or elevated platform with a permanent waterway.
85 feet or more of ground ladders, including at least two extension ladders, one straight ladder equipped with roof hooks, and one attic ladder.
Hose storage area with at least 30 cubic feet of storage able to accommodate a fire hose of 2.5 inches or larger, plus two areas, each a minimum of 3.5 cubic feet, to accommodate 1.5-inch or larger preconnected fire hose lines.
TCESD #2 operates 2 quint companies with 2 in-service quints and 1 reserve quint. Quint 251 operates out of Station 205 and Quint 201 operates out of Station 201. Quint 261 is the reserve quint for the district and is stored at Station 205. TCESD #2 began operating its first quint back in 2003 with the delivery of the former Quint 280. Quint 280 (Known at the time as Quint 211) was a 2002 Pierce Dash with a 100' aerial platform. This quint allowed for faster deployment of an aerial device on the fire ground and improved the district's response to structure fires. In 2017 the district saw the delivery of a second quint allowing Quint 280 to move into reserve status. But in 2020 an accident involving Quint 280 on IH-35 resulted in damage to the frame of the truck and the ladder turntable. Quint 280 was later retired and sold. In 2021 the department received Quint 261 and later in 2023 Quint 201 was delivered. With the delivery of both of these apparatus the goal to have two different quint companies operating in the area served by Travis County ESD #2 was reached, allowing for faster deployment of an aerial ladder on a fire scene while allowing a second ladder to still be available to serve the residents of the district.
All quints operate with two 200' 1 3/4" crosslays and a 200' 2 1/2" crosslay in minuteman-style loads. In addition all quint companies are equipped with a 100' bumper line in a scorpion load. Quint companies are not equipped with 3" supply hose other than a 25' section in the driver's compartment and have a limited amount of 5" supply hose, only carrying 500' of 5" in the hose bed in addition to the two 25' pony sections. Quint 201 is unique to the other two quints because the 5" supply hose is loaded in an accordion style while both Quint 251 and Quint 261 have the 5" in a flat load.

Squads provide ALS and BLS care within the borders of TCESD #2. Rapid deployment of a minimum of two firefighters allows squads to deliver quick responses to Fire and EMS calls. Currently, TCESD #2 operates 4 squads staffed by an Apparatus Specialist or a Lieutenant as the initial response supervisor and a firefighter driving. Squads 221, 271, and 281 provide ALS care outside the City of Pflugerville, while Squad 211 provides BLS care within the City of Pflugerville. Currently all squads are outfitted with the necessary medical equipment for the mission that they are tasked with. In addition, squads carry a set of Irons (a Flat Head Axe and a Halligan), a 6' NY Hook, and 3 Air-Paks, and FST (Fire Suppression Tool) for structure fire response.

Currently, 4 ambulances are still in service providing ALS care to the citizens in the ETJ of Austin around the Wells Branch area and unincorporated Travis County, along with 4 reserve medic units that can be staffed if demand requires it. Currently, all frontline medic units are built by Frazer Ambulance with 3 of the reserve units being built by Road Rescue and Wheeled Coach. All medic units are built on the Ford F-450 chassis providing similarity across all the units.

Brush trucks within the district responded to all grass fires and brush alarms in addition to assisting with TIFMAS (Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System) deployments around the State of Texas. Currently, the Pflugerville Fire Department operates 5 brush trucks out of stations 201, 203, 204, 206, and 207. These brush trucks are cross-staffed by the fire crews housed at each station allowing these units to be deployed in conjunction with the primary apparatus housed out of each respective station. Brush trucks within the district have also been used in unconventional ways to respond to different events the District has encountered, such as Winter Storm Uri. In February of 2021, the department faced challenges around the snow and ice that had accumulated during Winter Storm Uri and required 4x4 capabilities in order to respond to calls in the challenging environment. The brush trucks within the district allowed for firefighters to continue to respond to calls in a timely manner and continue to provide the citizens served by TCESD #2 with EMS and fire services.
