Purpose
The purpose of the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (MCJROTC) program, commonly referred to as “Junior ROTC,” is to instill a value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment. It does not seek any particular commitment to the military. The current legal basis for Junior ROTC is Section 2031 of Title 10, United States Code. That section is implemented by the Department of Defense. The governing directive, 1205.13 “ROTC Program for Secondary Educational Institutions,” is dated June16, 1982.
The Department of Defense funds and sponsors JROTC through the Secretaries of the Military Departments. MCJROTC is funded and sponsored through the Office of the Secretary of the Navy. Legally, the JROTC program offered in a high school must be no less than three years and no less than 96 hours of instruction each year. Usually, each year contains 180 hours of leadership instruction and application.
Mission
Marine Corps Junior ROTC Leadership Education develops good citizenship, self-confidence and self-discipline. Leadership Education classes introduce cadets to the elements of Leadership, Military Customs, Drill and Ceremonies, Uniform Inspections, Physical Fitness Training, Marksmanship, and Marine Corps history. Cadets are required to participate in civic service and wear their uniform at least once a week.

Help form habits of self-discipline.
Develop respect for, and an understanding of, the need for constituted authority in a democratic society.
Basic Weekly Schedule
Monday - Team Building / Leadership Classes
Tuesday / Wednesday - Uniform Day / Curriculum Classes
Thursday / Friday - Physical Training (PT) / Physical Fitness
NOTE: Schedule is often adjusted in order to meet other academic/training requirements.
Uniform & PT Policy
Marine Corps Policy states that Marine Instructors must designate one day of the week as a "uniform day" and another as a "PT day".
Uniforms must be worn ALL DAY on day designated.
Cadets will change into/out of PT attire before/after the conduct of PT during their class period.
Failure to wear uniform or PT attire will result in a (0%) grade.
