Mindful Fridays are a chance to get together and focus on self care topics including strategies for stress relief and building community.
When are Mindful Fridays?
Before school on Fridays from 8am-8:30am. Check the library calendar!
This program was supported by our PTSA. We hired a professional yoga instructor to teach a 6 week Yoga for Beginners course. Students who attended could also get PE credit!
Students first created 'glitter bottles' using soap, glycerin, water and glitter. They then shook their bottles as hard as they could and practiced mindful breathing while watching the glitter settle back to the bottom. When our lives get shaken up and cloudy, mindful breathing can help settle things back down so we can see clearly again and make better decisions.
Students were introduced to the apps Calm (available for free to Kaiser Members) and some of the free options on Headspace.
Who doesn't love hot chocolate and a good book?
Laughter is good for us! We played a variety of fun improv and team building games together.
Students gathered a tray, sand and a few extra items to make their own sand garden. We listened to quiet music, breathed, and enjoyed the texture of the sand.
