School Counseling

Elementary School Counselors

Perry’s elementary counseling department consists of licensed experienced educators with Master’s degrees in school counseling.  Elementary counselors assist students, teachers, parents, and administrators to address personal/social, academic and career needs of students.  Elementary counselors work with individuals, conduct groups, and teach classroom lessons.  Students may see their school counselor per student, parent and teacher requests.  All students are permitted to put a request in the school counselors’ mailboxes.

Pfeiffer & Edison School Counselors

A school counselor can work with elementary, middle, or high school students and functions as both a counselor and an educator.  Counselors tailor their interventions to best meet the needs of the age level they work with, but services can include developmental school counseling curriculum lessons, preventative programming (examples include anti-bullying programs, peer mentors, etc.) as well as group and individual counseling.  School counselors use the above services to assist students with their personal, social, academic, and career development.  A school counselor also provides leadership in educational reform and is an advocate for their students.
