Child Find: Perry Local Seeks to Serve Children With Disabilities
Within the intent of the federal statutes (Rehabilitation Act of 1973-Section 504 and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act IDEA-public law 105-17), the Perry Local School District continues its effort to locate and identify children with disabilities ages 3 through age 21. Children with disabilities have physical, emotional, and or mental impairments that may require special education. Public schools provide free and appropriate education regardless of a child’s disability. However, before these children can be served, they must be found. Many of these children are not visible because they may choose to avoid community participation, may have a “hidden disability”, and/or may be in preschool. If you are aware of a child who may need special education programming or services, contact Rebekah Silla, Director of Pupil Services, at 330.478.6187 with any questions that you may have regarding this notice.
We are dedicated to providing excellence for all students as we maintain the Pride, Excellence, and Tradition that is Perry. We welcome a collaborative relationship between parents, support staff, and educators in order to enhance the independence and success of each student. Please contact us anytime with questions, comments, etc.
