The Grainger Library of Sampled Sounds (GLOSS) is free to use and available for personal, educational, and research purposes. The library, which will continue to grow, includes sounds of instruments in the house (such as bells, pianos, and harmonium), and recordings of ambient sounds in and of the house (ie: doors closing and traffic on the street).
GLOSS is a project of the Percy Grainger Society, developed through the Museum Association of New York (MANY) “Building Capacity, Creating Sustainability, Growing Accessibility” program.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services [CAGML-246991-OMLS-20].

The mission of the Percy Grainger Society is to promote the work and legacy of Percy Grainger with a membership community that preserves his historic house, encourages appreciation and performance of his music, and promotes a deeper understanding of the cultural, social, and economic context of his life and work. We envision an international community that values the exploration of the music, heritage, and culture of the early 20th century, particularly as it relates to Percy Grainger’s work, and is empowered to preserve it and interpret it for future generations.
