Here you will find more resources for parents and students to have a fun-filled summer full of great books and good times building up literacy "muscles". Some of the resources featured include Readworks, the Internet Archive, Audiofile, MackinVIA, and Overdrive's Sora app. Please explore the page and find what works for you and your students. We will continue to add resources as they become available and we discover them over the summer.

This summer the district has established online ebooks accounts with Mackin which allows us access to many free ebooks and resources with through https://www.mackinvia.com/

Simply go to the website and enter in the correct login information based on the school you or your student attends. It is important to log in with the correct school information in order to gain access to all of the grade-level appropriate resources available. Click here for login information.

Readworks has Summer Reading articles for FREE for students at the elementary grade levels.

All students can find free books at the Internet Archive, an online public library.

Wow in the World Podcast (iTunes)- Hosts Mindy Thomas and Guy Raz guide inquisitive kids and their grown-ups on a journey into the wonders of the world around them. Go inside the brain, to outer space and deep into the hottest new stories in science and technology.

What If World Podcast (iTunes)- Explore "What ifs?" with this kid-friendly podcast. What if a tiny dragon lived in my closet? What if there were a never-ending bowl of ice cream? What if cats ruled the world? Abacus P Grumbler, Randall Radbot, and Whendiana Joan they help Mr. Eric tell wacky stories inspired by listener questions! Students can call in and leave a voicemail at 205-605-WHAT which might be featured on the show.

But Why: A Podcast for Curious Kids (iTunes)- From the iTunes website: "But Why is a show led by kids. They ask the questions and we find the answers. It’s a big interesting world out there. On But Why, we tackle topics large and small, about nature, words, even the end of the world. Know a kid with a question? Record it with a smartphone. Saturday Morning Media Theatre - Saturday Morning Media creates family friendly new media shows with a podcast next aimed specifically for kids and families. A variety of shows are listed here such as Did This Happen?; The Adventures of The Thunder Crester; and ComedyBeaver.com

The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian - "FINN CASPIAN HAS HAD BETTER BIRTHDAYS.....He can’t sleep, he can’t shake the feeling someone is following him, and he can’t stop the monsters who show up to smash his cake. In other words, it’s turning out to be more exciting than he expected." This award-winning, serialized podcast for kids features Finn and his friends as they explore outer space.

Tumble - "Tumble is a science podcast for kids, to be enjoyed by the entire family." Hosts Lindsay and Marshall ask questions and share mysteries as they explore science in a kid-friendly format.
