Madison- Mrs. Schlesinger- We are learning about the vowel consonant E. You pick a vowel, then it says its letter, and then there’s a consonant, and then an E. The E gets a line across it, and you do a line, then underneath the line you put a V and then you do a -E. Above the A, you’re gonna put a line.

In Mrs. Coiro's class, they are using hundereds charts. Sydney Menezes and Antonio Foglio say sometimes they can be confusing and hard but you just have to get used to them. They are sometimes allowed to use them during quizzes but they are supposed to memorize them.

In first grade, Mrs. Schlesinger’s class is learning about American symbols. They have learned about the White House, Mount Rushmore, The Statue of Liberty, The Liberty Bell, and the American eagle. They have been watching live streams of eagles in California. They have been learning facts about each symbol such as that the president lives in the White House. They also learned why the Statue of Liberty is green and that it came from France. First grader Stella Andronaco says her favorite symbol so far is The American Eagle. She says they get to draw pictures of their favorite symbols. A fun fact that Stella learned was that the Statue of Liberty was made out of the same material as a penny.

The first graders went on a field trip to "Mayo Performing Arts Center." This is where they watched the show, "A Year With Frog and Toad." They loved and enjoyed every part of this show! The first grader Seoyeon told us all about it!
Seoyeon- “ We went to a place called Mayo Performing Arts Center. We saw a play called ‘Frog and Toad, All Year’. It was about Frog and Toad. It is based off a book. We read the books and I liked them. There was a frog and a toad and there were 3 birds, and a snail. It was fun, and the play was 2 hours long. The birds change into different characters each year. And the bus ride was fun. My Dad came. My favorite part was when they ate cookies. "
