Creating an outline helps you build out your argument- as you plan out the different sections of your argument you will see where more research is needed and where your research is already strong. Continue to revise your thesis statement as you complete this step of the process.
As you add evidence to your outline, be sure to add footnotes or some other means to track the source for each piece of information. See the "citations" tab in this resource for a guide to creating footnotes.
The outline is also a crucial juncture for feedback, as you can still change direction at this stage of the process without rewriting large sections of your final product. The more care and effort you put into this part of the process, the easier it will be to write your paper or present your research!
