PVLA offers two distinct learning pathways to meet the needs of every student. Families can choose between an online learning option or a workbook‑based option, allowing students to learn in the format that works best for them. All students are invited to participate in Art Club and/or Study Hall held at the district office. Extra academic support is available on-line or in-person.
Each student is offered a district Chromebook for check out.
Bussing is available for students attending study hall.
Students enrolled in either Acellus Gold or SchoolsPLP are required to log in weekly and complete assignments according to pace due dates. There are no live sessions, making this an ideal program for students that like to work at their own pace. All work is completed on the computer and graded by a licensed teacher. Learning Coaches have access to the online curriculum to preview and support. Weekly reports are emailed out to keep everyone informed of progress. Monthly check-ins are required and can take place either virtually or in-person.
A coordinator works collaboratively with families to create an individualized learning plan to meet the interest and needs of the student. Curriculum is purchased through either Timberdoodle or BookShark. Enrollment is for the entire school year and is heavily dependent on the Learning Coach for support. Monthly check-ins are invaluable to the success of this program. During in-person check-ins students share work samples to document academic progress and to monitor growth.
