We are all looking for different things in our books (your besties favorite books are not necessarily going to be your favorite books)! So how do you find the books that feel like they were written just for you? Here are a few suggestions!

Check out social media (ex: BookToks, Bookstagrammers, YouTube Book Trailers) for recommendations! SO GOOD!

Visit a book specific website (there is a list further down this page)! You also have access to Novelist (use the password for EBSCO / Explora if you are outside of the building). Novelist is an AMAZING resource for discovering your next read. If the Learning Commons does not currently have the title you want, you can request a book for the Learning Commons collection!

Watch a movie or series! Watching movies and series is a great way to discover amazing books. A large proportion of the movies and series you see are adapted from books. Find the book and read it beforehand (or after seeing the film) to offer a new perspective on the story. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson is a perfect example! You will be surprised at how much the book differs from the movie!

Check out our catalog to browse though the thousands of books that are available to you! You can search by title, author, or topic, or check out the curated collections (ex: Mystery, Mental Health - Fiction, Historical Fiction, LGBTQIA+, Fantasy, Fairytales, and Re-telling's, etc.).
You also have your own personal account that allows you to create book lists, see your checkout history and put books on hold! Your username is the first part of your district email (ex:26HPotter) | Your password is your district ID (also your lunch code).
The Pemi-Baker School District Digital Library (Sora) is an online library offering eBook and audiobook titles (just like your school library only digital)! Using your District email (ex: 26HPotter@pemibaker.org) you can download eBooks and audiobooks to your computer or a variety of portable devices including your Smartphone!

Need a new book to read? We got you covered!
1. Fill out this form.
2. Our team of book matchmakers will hand pick 1-3 books that we think would be a perfect fit for you.
3. The books are then wrapped in paper (the blind date) and are left in the Learning Commons for you to pick up, or can be delivered to your study hall.
4. Unwrap, read, and fall in love with your new favorite book(s).
