Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed in May in the United States since 1949, reaching millions of people in the United States through the media, local events, and screenings. While 1 in 5 people will experience a mental illness during their lifetime, everyone faces challenges in life that can impact their mental health.
The PRHS Learning Commons has an extensive collection of notable fiction, nonfiction and Graphic Novels highlighting protagonists struggling with mental health or sharing their personal stories though memoirs or poetry.
