Each year, we celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd! The theme for Earth Day 2023 is 'Invest in Our Planet'. Our Earth is our only home and each year, we have made it more uninhabitable for all living species with our waste and pollution. Although it seems daunting, every person can make a difference to restore and heal our lands, oceans and air. What can you do? Cut down on your consumables (use reusable items such as bags, water bottles, utensils, etc.), pick up trash from the side of the roads, trails, beaches etc., use sustainable products (they will help you ditch plastic while saving money!), only buy what you need and buy local, plant a native trees and flowers (this will help our native pollinators that are dying in rapid numbers), refrain from purchasing 'fast fashion', and share what you are doing with your friends, family, teachers and community members (sometimes all it takes to make a difference is to inspire someone else)! Mother Earth shows us her love by gifting us with an abundance of natural resources including the food we harvest and eat, the material to create the clothing that keeps us warm, wood and land to create our shelters, and clean water to drink. Show your love for her by offering respect. She is your home. Without earth, there is no 'us'.

In the summer of 2018, Thunberg started sitting outside the Swedish parliament every Friday as part of a climate strike. On September 20, 2019, Thunberg led the largest climate strike in history and has addressed the United Nations, US Congress, and UK Parliament!
