Dunkin, Starbucks, Maylous; beloved by the students of PHS, but which is the greatest? 43 students gave their input in a school wide poll.
It was a close call between Dunkin in Marlou’s, but with 43.9% of the votes, Dunkin is crowned the favorite of PHS. Marylous came in second with 36.6% of votes and Starbucks in third with 14.6% of votes.
Dunkin has drinks varying from refreshers to hot or iced coffee and teas. They also have frozen drinks and options to make drinks at home; Keurig pods, packaged tea, and packaged coffee. Along with its drink options, Dunkin also offers breakfast foods like sandwiches, wraps, muffins, and of course, donuts. These food items can be prepared warm or as is.
Marlous also has many unique coffee drinks, also known as the “best coffee in town”, but does not offer refreshers like Dunkin does. Instead, they have Red Bull infusions and specialty iced tea lemonade. Marlous also has some different breakfast options; stuffed waffles, egg bites, hash browns, and of course, breakfast sandwiches. Like Dunkin, these sandwiches can be made on bagels, croissants, or English muffins.
Starbucks, the least popular cafe, has a similar menu to both Dunkin and Marylou’s; hot or iced coffee and tea, refreshers, and their beloved frappuccinos. Starbucks offers bottled beverages and pre-packaged snacks, standing out from the others. They also have hot breakfast and lunch options.
With three locations, Dunkin has the greatest availability in Pembroke compared to Marylous and Starbucks. Marylous has two and Starbucks does not have any. Dunkins accessibility could be a contributing factor to its popularity. Starbucks could also be undervalued due to its lack of locations.
Opening times also support Dunkin and Marylous’ recognition. The nearest Starbucks, Marshfeild, opens at 5AM, but Dunkin in the center of town opens at 4AM. One of Marylous’ locations opens at 4AM while the other opens at 5AM.
With early opening times, many locations, and a menu with variety, Dunkin has earned its spot as PHS’s favorite drink spot.
