There has been an ongoing battle between whos better, lululemon or Vuori? What doesn’t break the bank? What's better quality?
As many may know both of these stores are located on Derby Street in Hingham. Both are also very popular stores when it comes to athletic wear. The most popular items being leggings and athletic jackets.
Lululemon has over 100 types of leggings with over 20 colors and patterns to choose from as well. Which might explain why they usually range from $80 to $130 with some leggings even reaching the price $170 for one pair.
As for Lululemon athletic jackets there are over 70 styles and 18 colors and patterns to pick from. The price for the standard popular jackets is usually around $120. More fancy athletic jackets that offer more are can range from around $160 to as high as almost $400.
Vuori has 100 types of leggings with around 11 colors and patterns to choose from. As for their prices it’s usually around $90 to $120 with no discounts. The prices change according to the style someone purchases. If someone purchases the ‘daily leggings’ the price is closer to $90 but if they purchase something like the ‘evolve leggings’ that's when the price is closer to $120. As for why ‘evolve legging’ are more expensive it's because they are Vuori’s “smoothest, sleekest leggings yet” and are even made out of “V1 UpliftTM material”.
Other than Vuori’s leggings the second best seller has to be their hoodies. The prices are similar to their leggings as they usually range from $90 to $120 but some reach as high as almost $200 for one hoodie.
Vuori and Lululemon seem to have the same price range but which are better quality?
Reviews also seem to decide that Vuori and Lululemon are relatively the same but if there had to be a winner Lululemon seems to win according to a google form that was sent out school wide with 29 responses.

Best Electives: Ceramics
by Dan McCarthy
PHS prides itself on having a wide variety of engaging electives that teach lifelong skills. Several of these electives are art classes, with one of the most popular being Ceramics. Each year students rush to claim a spot during course selection. Here’s what Ms. Green, who teaches Ceramics, had to say about the hot-ticket elective:
Q: What is the main focus of Ceramics?
A: Ceramics focuses on physical properties of clay and how to build with it.
Q: Why do you think Ceramics is so popular?
A: Who doesn't want to play with mud?
Q: What is your favorite part of teaching Ceramics?
A:Unloading the kiln and seeing everyone's creations.
Q: What other electives should students take if they enjoyed Ceramics?
A: Ceramics 2 for more mud building, or 3D Design for building out of everything else!
Ceramics is one of the most popular electives for seniors, as it's a creative elective and requires less outside of school work as academic electives do.
Senior Kate Wesinger says that she took ceramics because "I love art and I thought it would be lots of fun! I wanted to learn something new."
Senior Markus Lovelace agrees with this sentiment, saying that his favorite part of ceramics is "creating functional artwork that I can use at home."
Ceramics is also taken by a few lucky underclassmen, who could fit into the schedule.
2024 NFL Draft: One To Remember
by Sam Hegerich
The 2024 NFL Draft started Thursday, April 25th, and it was action packed. I believe that a lot of teams had amazing drafts. The Bears were far and away the winner of the 2024 NFL Draft in my opinion. There were a lot of surprising picks and a lot of people believe there were some terrible picks.
Many people find the worst pick in the Draft to be Michael Penix Jr who was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons and Owen Reardon also had the same answer about the worst pick and said, “it has to be Michael Penix Jr. He is coming off two torn ACL’s and is on the older side at 23.”
Michael Penix played for Washington University where they made the National championship but lost to Michigan 34-13. He had an amazing year but the past injuries are what is worrisome for people.
With all the bad picks there were also amazing picks and steals.
With many bad picks there are also great picks that can change a franchise and Andrew Palmeri shared his opinion on the best pick in the draft, “Probably Marvin Harrison Jr, he is a freak athlete and to take him at 4 is an absolute steal”.
Marvin Harrison Jr is considered as one of the best receiver prospects in the past few years and is seen by many people as the best player in the draft, so to take him at 4 is a huge steal.
Many teams had great round 1 draft picks and many teams had bad round 1 draft picks. But one team definitely had the best draft and Connor Walker couldn’t keep his excitement in when he was asked what team had the best draft, “The Bears obviously! Not only did they have the number 1 pick and take the best quarterback, Caleb Williams, but they also had the 9th pick and picked a generational talent at wide receiver in Rome Odunze”.
The Bears have been on fire this offseason and these round 1 draft picks made it 10 times better. They definitely are to seen to have the possibility to be one of the best offenses in the entire NFL next season.
With round 1 over and down with we already have some winners and some losers who are trying to save their name in these next few rounds.

Bloody Kisses Turns Thirty:
Celebrating 30 Years of Type O Negative's Most Iconic Album
by Dan McCarthy
On May 10th, 1994, Type O Negative released their third studio album Bloody Kisses. Loudwire called Bloody Kisses the best album of 1993, and was ranked number 365 in The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time in 2005. Featuring two of Type O Negative’s most iconic tracks, Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare -All) & Christian Woman, Bloody Kisses is an iconic gothic metal album with several hard-hitting tracks.
Track List:
Machine Screw 0:41 - An odd opening to the album, generally skippable, sort of unpleasant to listen to, machinery sounds and a woman groaning, 0/10
Christian Woman 8:58 - The masterpiece of the album, steele’s crooning adds depth and emotion to the lyrics, personal favorite from the album, starts slow and builds to a crescendo before switching to acoustic, 10/10
Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare -All) 11:15 - a halloween classic, adds parts of the munsters theme into the organ, mentions horror icons like Nosferatu and Lily Munster, puts the goth in gothic metal, Type O shines in longer tracks, 9/10
Fay Wray Come out and Play 1:03 - another skippable track, men chanting while women scream, less disturbing but still difficult to listen to 2/10
Kill All the White People 3:24 - a punk track on a metal album, catchy, simple lyrics, in a different world it would have been a radio hit, 7/10
Summer Breeze 4:49 -An excellent cover of the Seals & Croft hit in the Type O style, 7/10
Set Me on Fire 3:29 - a summer hit, catchy, makes use of the organ that is present in the background of the album, the least “metal” track within the album, radio hit potential, 8/10
Dark Side of the Womb 0:28 - another unlistenable interlude, NIN-style machinery with a baby crying over it, 0/10
We Hate Everyone 6:51 - another catchy tune with a punk energy, Steele’s personal beliefs bleed in but not far enough to ruin the track, transitions from upbeat with machinery sounds and changes tempo to a slower pace, general message to believe what you want and not care what others think of you, 9/10
Bloody Kisses (A Death in the Family) 10:56 - a slow-paced start, powerful & emotional lyrics with strong instrumentals, 8/10
3.O.I.F 2:06 - 2 minutes of noise to break up the album, not very listenable, 2/10
Too Late: Frozen 7:50 - strong bassline to open, catchy, the contrast of the soft backing vocals to the harsher opening vocals is pleasant, definitely one of the more metal tracks, powerful lyrics, 9/10
Blood & Fire 5:32 - strong guitar riff to open, strong melancholic lyrics, vocals are more approachable, powerful switch to acoustics for the end, 6/10
Can’t Lose You 6:06 - slower track, vocals are more crooning, a strong ending to an album of several ups and downs, surprising addition of sitar at the end, 7/10
Bloody Kisses is a well-crafted album with strong theming and provocative lyrics. Bloody Kisses earns its place as Type O Negative's most iconic album with its excellent composition, usage of through tracks, and overall feeling like the album flows well from each song to the next.

The first TV show is a very well known and well liked show called "Stranger Things." This show is one of my favorites as it is very mischievous and keeps you guessing what will happen next. The show is about a girl that is taken away from her mother and is found to have the power of moving things with her mind. She then escapes from their control and meets these three boys who are looking for their friend who was kidnapped by a monster that the girl had brought into the world. Then they all work together to try and find the boy who was taken away by the monster and fight the bad guys that took the little girl away from her mother. Personally I would rate this series a 10/10 and would recommend it to everyone. You can watch this show on Netflix and there have been 4 seasons and another season is coming soon.
Another show that I would recommend is called "The Boys." This show is very graphic as well as decently inappropriate but is a very good show overall. It is about a group of superheroes called the 7 and that are completely loved by the world. But there is also a group of regular guys that all have stories as to why they hate the superheroes as they all team up together and try to find ways to expose or even kill the dirty superheroes for all of their wrongdoings. Throughout the way they had to overcome many obstacles and have gone through a lot of pain but they continue to fight for what they believe in. Overall I would rate this show a solid 9/10 as it is very good but there can be improvements made. You can watch this show on Prime Video and there have been 3 seasons so far with more to come.
The last show that I would recommend to people is called "Suits." Suits is a show about a man with a photographic memory that is trying to make some money by taking college exams for people. He then tries to earn some extra money with his roommate by selling drugs but realizes it is a trap and runs away only to find someone hiring for an associate lawyer position. He amazes him with his knowledge of the law and gets hired. But there was a big problem with him being hired, he wasn't from Harvard law school and wasn't from any law school. Throughout the show they try to win many cases and also go through some struggles to keep the man's secret that he does not have a law degree. Overall I would rate the show a 9/10 as it is a very good show but does get kind of repetitive. You can watch this show on Netflix and there have been 8 seasons of the show.

I recently dined at Route 53 Tavern, formerly known as Dischs Tavern, and the service was amazing. Everyone there was super nice and everything there was very fast. Everything that I wanted, I got.
I ordered the Buffalo chicken mac and cheese and it was the greatest thing that I have ever tasted. The food there is always extremely good from all of my experiences. My favorites are the buffalo tender, Buffalo mac and cheese, and any type of burger. Overall I think that this is definitely my favorite restaurant to go and would recommend for people to go there.
Other options on the menu include great salads, great seafood and a lot of other food items that you might enjoy. Senior Sam Hegerich said “I love it there and go there all of the time to get food with my dad."
Route 53 Tavern is a great place to go with your family and you will always have a good time.
Senior Nolan McGrath said, “Everyone there is extremely nice and the food is great. The chicken tenders are a must get."
