A.J. Haen's Passion
by Rowan Donlon
Have you ever had any interest in Motocross? Talk to senior AJ Haen! Anyone following him on social media will know about his passion for dirtbiking.
AJ has been dirtbiking ever since he was a kid his dad was a dirtbiker and passed it down to him, he’s been into it ever since. AJ’s favorite part of the sport is the physical aspect.
“I love the physical impact the sport has. You have to be physically and mentally fit in order to succeed,” he said.
For anyone looking to get into this sport, you need a dirtbike, confidence, and dedication, as you’ll need to travel in order to compete or practice. AJ absolutely has the dedication aspect, as he travels all across the country for competitions.
While he will always love the sport, AJ says, “Motocross will always be my favorite sport and I will always have a dirtbike, but not quite sure where it will take me.”
Next year, after high school you can catch AJ welding for the Union.

Sara McCarthy's Suburbia Dreams
by Abby Newman
Senior Sara McCarthy started a student-led blog at the end of her sophomore year called Suburbia. The website serves as a platform for artistic promotion, newsletters, and to keep everyone connected with the community through local opportunities and events. Students can make their own accounts to use on the website.
Interactive and engaging features in the blog include song suggestions of the week, hot takes, countdowns to school breaks, local entertainment information, wellness information, and daily affirmations. All submissions go under the blog portion as their own posts. The idea of submissions was made as “light-hearted fun” for students.
Sara revealed how Suburbia relates to,“Connecting with the community in our suburb. I think of our town as a suburb and it sounded like a little world, like a little utopia.”
Sara also hopes that,“People learn how to take what they need and leave what they don’t and combat the negative aspects of social media. Lord knows we need it. I hope people can actually get something out of Suburbia and use it as a tool. That was the goal.”
Junior Brianna Palmer spoke on how, “I love the idea. It has my approval. I feel like students might use it if they want to see what’s going on here.”
After graduating, Sara wishes to hand off Suburbia to an interested underclassman—“it’d be a dream.”
The future of Suburbia is in the hands of the students here at PHS. See the link below to Suburbia. Check it out!
