Here at Pembroke, students and teachers alike are expressing themselves through tattoos. Whether they are matching with some friends or have some kind of sentimental value, there are a wide variety of tattoos in the building.
Art teacher Mrs. Savoia has two tattoos as a tribute to her mother. Her left wrist says “I love you” in her mother’s hand writing. She says that her whole family got these tattoos as a way to remember their mother after her passing. Her right wrist has “La bella vista” meaning a beautiful day, also done in her mom’s hand handwriting.
Math teacher Mrs. Infascelli has many tattoos all with a deeper meaning. The tattoos she decided to share with us were her “always and forever” tattoo. This tattoo was a tribute to her father, meaning she will always and forever be thinking about him.
Mrs. Infascelli also shared her white ink tattoos. Her “speak up” tattoo was done in white ink and to Infa means to speak up and use your voice.
Guidance counselor Mrs. Conathan shared her turtle tattoo. She got this tattoo to remember her best friend that she sadly lost to a brain tumor a few years ago. This turtle to her represents her friend's time in chemo when she would want to be away from the world and hide in her shell. But also symbolized the days that she was out in the world and out in her shell.
Biology teacher Ms. George has a tattoo located on the back of her arm that was done for her. She has a fairy which she loved as a child. This fairy has lunar moth wings which she says is her favorite moth. This fairy that symbolizes mrs georges likes is also holding a beach rose. This tattoo symbolizes all of Mrs George's favorite things!
Senior Hailey Burril has a tattoo on her forearm for her grandfather. This tattoo is a saying that her grandfather used to say “take it easy.” This tattoo was done in his handwriting and next to his words is a flower for his and haileys birth month.
Last but certainly not least we have Mr. King with a tattoo on his upper part dedicated to his children. This tattoo was done in an Irish style. Mr. King's tattoo has a king from a chess board to represent his last name. He also has his children's names in a crown on top of a shamrock to represent his Irish background.
Wait, we have another… Mr. Talbot. This tattoo is located on his ankle. The story behind his tattoo is that there was a girl that he liked in college. She was an art major and she so kindly drew this tattoo for him. Mr. Talbot was already planning on getting a tattoo...but decided to let her make this tattoo in hopes that she would like him more. After getting this tattoo Mr Talbot dated the girl for two years because “he has game.” This tattoo is a tribal style tattoo.
