Ms. Walsh is a math teacher here at Pembroke High School. She has been teaching for 12 years and is the senior class advisor. The Titan Times recently interviewed Ms. Walsh.
Q: What college/ university did you attend?
A: I went to Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. I majored in math with a minor and secondary education, and I attended Bridgewater State University and received my master's degree in mathematics.
Q: What inspired you to become a teacher and why did you decide to teach math?
A: I had a math teacher when I was in middle school that I really liked and felt like I could connect with. I wanted to be like the teacher he was for other kids. I want to make students feel like they can have fun and be comfortable in math.
Q: How long have you been teaching?
A: I started in the fall of 2013, so almost 13 years.
Q: What is a moment you will always remember from your career?
A: One that stands out to me right now would be during Covid. When we came back from quarantine, we did the homecoming dance outside. I was the junior class advisor. We were in charge of the snack shack for homecoming. It started to rain so the DJ packed all of his things, but the kids still wanted to be together and have a good time. They ran into the snack shack and asked if they could play their own music to play on the turf and continue their dance. That moment stands out to me because it was during a serious time and the kids just wanted to have fun and enjoy their time to have a break from all the seriousness. For them to come in and wine to play the music to continue the event, made me happy because it showed that they wanted to be together and not let the negativeness of the rain affect them and their time.
Q: Did you play any sports in college or any coaching?
A: I played lacrosse in college, I played defense, I used to coach laccrose here in Pembroke but now I coach a club team on the South Shore.Â
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: YESS!! Millie is my dog, she is a Bernedoodle. She is a chunky monkey, and a goofball. Millie just turned 4, we had a pinata party for her.
