Meet Layla Galligan:
Color Guard Team Captain
by Colin King
You don't need patriotism to wave flags during football games. This November's Student Spotlight, senior, and color guard team captain, Layla Galligan, proves that right! Galligan and her co-captain, Grace Stevens, lead their team’s performance during the halftime show at the Homecoming Game.
Q: Do you enjoy color guard?
A: "I do enjoy color guard a lot, it's one of my favorite things to do."
Q: How long have you been on the color guard team?
A: "I've been on the color guard team since my sophomore year, and became captain this year with my other teammate, Grace Stevens."
Q: Why color guard?
A: "I chose color guard because its a way to push myself physically and mentally. I was skeptical of doing it at first, but was told by my captain that I had a natural talent. Doing color guard has given me so many new friends who I appreciate so much and always will."
Q: What is your craziest accomplishment on the color guard team?
A: "My craziest accomplishment is probably becoming captain for my senior year. I had a few doubts in my performance in my prior years, but with more practice I got better at what I was doing and eventually was told that they want me as one of the captains."
Q: Are you proud of the performance of your team at the homecoming game?
A: "I'm very proud of our performance! Adding the middle schoolers into color guard was a bit of a challenge keeping attention on a lot more teammates, but they really pulled through and learned quickly. I've met so many new and amazing people because of it. We've all come a long way and I'm so proud on how far everyone on the team has come."

John Burnham is a senior at Pembroke High School. He recently attended Archbishop Williams in Braintree. Burnham buys and sells shoes but also does some business with stocks. This career for Burnham started in his 8th grade when he bought a pair of “yeezys” in the gym. The Titan Times had the chance to ask him some questions!
Q: What is the greatest risk you have taken?
A:"I put in 280k into a crypto project from 3 wallets but then eventually lost all the money. I say it was the greatest risk to take since I learned from that loss."
Q: Who is someone you look up to?
A: "I look up to this youtuber Brez Scales. He runs his own company with ads for businesses and does very well in life. That is why I look up to him.
Q:If you could have lunch with one person, who would it be?A: "It has to be Donald Trump, I just think he has a cool history and would love to ask him for some advice."
Q: Where is your dream vacation?
A: "Would definitely be Morocco. The beaches there are crazy and the weather is just so nice."
Q:Where did the shoe selling start?
A: I was watching a video on youtube and I thought it would be very cool to sell shoes. One day in 8th grade I bought a pair off my friend and that is where it all started."
Q: What is one thing you would buy if you could?
A: "If I had the chance I would 100% buy a lion. They are my favorite animal."
Q: What is your goal for the rest of your life?
A: “I plan on learning more about business and hopefully start my own brand or company. I would love to own a clothing brand and open up a few stores if it becomes successful. That is my goal for later on in life.”
