Allie Dwyer is starting her senior season off with a great start averaging 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and being named captain her second year in a row. Dwyer has started since sophomore year and she’s coming off a great junior season, being named a Patriot League All-star.
The Titan Times had a brief interview with the Senior captain to ask a few questions about the season and her plans for after high school.
Q: What is your favorite memory from your senior season so far?
A:''So far it has to be winning against Duxbury at duxbury who was also undefeated to make us 6-0. We have also never won in duxbury through all the years of girls basketball, so it felt nice to be a part of that achievement.’’
Q: What keeps you motivated throughout the season?
A: "The team's set goal to be the league champions.’’
Q: What is your plan for after high school?
A: “I’m down to two schools i’d like to play for, but I am not ready to share them out yet.’’
Q: Do you plan on playing for another team in the off season?
A: "No. I will be training on my own and keeping myself ready for my next opportunity.’’
Q: What did you do to prepare in your off season?
A:''I played AAU in the spring and summer and got to travel to play in Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania. Then in the Fall I had a trainer.''
Q: How do you feel the team chemistry is this year compared to previous years?
A: "Out of all the years I think this year is our best. We didn’t have any seniors last year, so we have the same team plus two freshmen who are super included as well. We all get along really well and understand how eachother play, which creates great chemistry on the court."

Captain Jacob Derochea is a senior point guard who has been lighting up the stat sheets so far this basketball season, and here at the Titan Times, we have no doubts that this team will explode once they get in their rhythm. Derochea is a shifty guard who gives defenders problems day after day, whilst leading his team as the only senior captain on the roster.
The TItan Times asked Derochea a couple of questions:
Q: “What are your hopes for the season?”
A: “I want to make a run to the elite 8 at least, and finish with a home playoff game.”
Q: “What's the most important game you will play this year?”
A: “Ooooh, I think the game where we are on the road against Hanover. We have an ongoing rivalry with them and it’s usually a battle for the league.”
Q: “What's it like being the only captain?”
A: “It's different. I’m used to having two others with me, but it’s a responsibility I am happy to have.”
Q: “What are your college aspirations, do you want to play at the next level?”
A: “Yes, ideally I want to play college basketball locally, my top school at the moment is Bentley University.”
Q: “Give us 3 words to describe the Pembroke High School Boys basketball team.”
A: “Modern, family, community.”
Derochea and the rest of the boy’s basketball team hope to pick up steam heading into the middle of the season, and with some very important games coming up, we wish them the best of luck.

Boys Basketball

The boys basketball team hasn't had the start that they anticipated currently sitting with a 3-2 record. However Senior captain Jacob Derochea has high hopes for the team going forward in the season. He said, “We’re off to a slow start but have shown much resiliency”. According to Derochea the team knows that they are underperforming and that they have a lot more potential than they are displaying on the court. Big time players Michael Marcella, Nick Carbone, Will Farrell and Jacob Derochea have all played a big part in the team winning games as Juniors Will Farrell and Michael Marcella and Senior Jacob Derochea are all consistent point scorers and have played big parts in the teams wins this season. Juniors Rob Goddard, Nick Carbone and Senior Tanner Lawson have also played big parts in the teams wins on the defensive end using their tall frames to snag rebounds from opponents. We are only at the beginning end of the season however the team knows that they have the ability to be very good come the ending parts of the season.
