Capturing Memories: Inside the Yearbook Club
by Arden Bliss
Are you interested in digital art, photography, or media outreach? If so, the PHS Yearbook Club is the place for you! In Yearbook Club, students work together to create, design, and capture memories of the school year to get put into the yearbook. The club currently has 30 students across all grades working on the 2024-2025 yearbook.
Mrs. Lazarus, the club’s advisor, says that students can learn new life skills through the yearbook club, “Students can learn how to format and publish documents as well as develop photography skills!” Mrs. Lazarus has been the club's advisor for roughly seven years and says that her favorite part of the club is seeing everyone's creativity.
Lazarus said, “I love seeing how everyone contributes their own skills and interests, it is cool to see how people shine with their own interests and talents.”
Freshman Jordan Ritchie is a member of the Yearbook Club and contributes to the graphic design part of the yearbook. Ritchie says that she became interested in this club because of her love for drawing.
Ritchie said, “I am not only in the digital arts club, but I have always enjoyed designing things such as cards and posters, so I thought I would really enjoy it.” According to Ritchie, the club is currently working on collecting photos for each page.
“So far we have designed a cover and we are working on developing all of the pages and adding photos to each page," she added.
The PHS Yearbook Club offers an opportunity for students to engage in creative and collaborative work. This club allows students to let their artistic side shine while meeting other students with similar skills and hobbies.
Ritchie says, “I highly recommend the club. I have influenced about three or four of my friends to join and help us and I would recommend it to any student.”
