Mrs. Kearney

Devoting my life for the past 42 years to both students and adults with special needs, I’ve gained a unique perspective on life.   Starting out my career as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, I ran and consulted for programs for adults in senior centers and nursing homes for 12 years.  Moving with my husband’s career, I chose to go back to school to obtain the credits needed to teach special education while teaching Preschool for three years.  Before I had an opportunity to use my certification, we moved to New England.  My first teaching position was at Timberlane High School where I helped to develop their Autism program for 2 years.  Additionally, I was one of three professionals to develop a summer program for students on the Autistic Spectrum called “Camp Connect”.  Wanting to move closer to home and help students within my community, I applied to teach special education at PES where I taught for 13 years before becoming one of the school’s Reading Specialists.
