Turning on subtitles while your child watches TV or videos can boost their reading skills by exposing them to more words, helping them connect spoken and written language. Research shows that seeing words on screen can improve word recognition, vocabulary, and reading fluency—especially for early readers. In fact, studies have found that children who watch shows with subtitles can double their word learning compared to those who watch without them!
