Domain 4d. Participating in a Professional Community
Title: Woodside & Field Library Connection
Date Produced: November 2023
Description: This artifact demonstrates my heart for literacy through my active collaboration with the field library and my dedication to ensuring that all students have access to library resources. I strongly believe that literacy extends beyond the classroom, and access to a well-stocked, welcoming library is an essential part of supporting lifelong learning. In 2023-2024 school year, 172 students received their library cards and were so proud of their community connection to literature they could share with their family members.
Purpose: The purpose of connecting with the local library is to provide access to free books, internet and resources not only to our students, but to their parents as well. It took months of communicating with Ms. Chelsea in order to get library cards into the hands of our students. By working closely with Field Library, I aim to make reading materials more accessible and to encourage students to see literacy as an ongoing, interactive process that shapes both their academic success and personal growth well beyond their years at Woodside Elementary School.
