Description: This artifact shows a video made for my students on Screencastify, which was made accessible through a QR code for students to review and practice daily at home.
Purpose: The purpose of this video was to give students access to my teaching as they learned their letter names and sounds, without needing the help of parents or guardians at home.

Description: This artifact shows work from a newcomer that was struggling to write. But in speaking with peers and sharing stories about their homeland, what they missed, and their favorite dinner with family, she was able to produce writing that was meaningful to her.
Purpose: The purpose of allowing students to ask questions and discuss topics of interest is to provide an opportunity for students to inspire and learn from one another.

Description: This artifact shows a cumulative project after research and extensive learning about penguins. Students were to create a brochure of their tour boat where travelers will visit a part of the world where penguins live.
Purpose: The purpose of this project was to engage students in demonstrating their learning in a creative and informative way.

Description: This artifact shows exit slips used by students during independent reading activities.
Purpose: The purpose of using exit slips as a form of assessment is to encourage students to become independent, take ownership over their learning, and eventually use the skills learned in their homeroom classes, and at home.

Purpose: The purpose of using various tools demonstrates flexibility and knowledge of student needs in order to enhance their cognitive development in reading and writing.
