About Me:

Hello! Welcome to my digital portfolio.  My name is Melissa Mackhanlall and I am so honored to share my journey with you. I have been teaching for over 20 years, with the majority of my career spent in the NYC DOE, New Rochelle School District, and most recently, the Peekskill City School District. It has been a privilege to serve in such diverse communities rich with a beautiful blend of cultures, languages, and backgrounds.

My passions revolve around my children, my family, and a lifelong love of learning. My son's reading disability and a recent traumatic life altering experience has profoundly influenced my approach to both life and teaching. Every minute is a gift and everything we learn is priceless.
