Each classroom has roughly over 40+ guidance classes during the school year.
*Each classroom has guidance 1x a week for 30-40 minutes.
-Days off, absences, and other factors do affect guidance. Therefore it is hard to know based on unknown factors how many guidance lessons each class will get.
The topics that are chosen for each grade level is chosen based on a variety of factors:
-Age range of the students.
-Internet research on what skills students need in their current grade level as well as the next grade level.
-Curriculum-Guidance lessons that are taught are based on a combination of of two Social Emotional Learning Curriculums which are Second Step and Character Strong (for more info on these check the tab) as well as my own creativity. I use my own creativity to cover what Second Step and Character Strong do not cover to make sure students have a well rounded Social Emotional Learning Experience.
Topics can include
Kindness Sportsmanship Self-Advocacy Career Exploration
Self-Esteem Diversity Feelings/Emotions Empathy
Problem Solving Goal Setting Sharing Manners
Safety Internet Safety Drama Friendship
