Q8.What is the process for entering Japan?
A.
You must be prepared to follow the procedures of the Novel Coronavirus Infections Waterborne Disease Control. As with any other incoming passenger, testing and processing at airport may take 4-5 hours. If you test positive, you may be required to go to a mandatory quarantine accommodation. In the event of a negative result, you will still need to be placed in voluntary quarantine for a certain period of time, as required by the government at the time of entry.

Q9. What are the quarantine measures taken to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus after entry into Japan?
A.
As of February 10, 2022, entry from Pakistan requires 3 days of isolation at a government-secured facility. The government's border control measures are frequently updated, so please check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare websites accordingly.

A. (As of February 2022) If you had already obtained a certificate of eligibility for Engineering/Speciali
st in Humanities/International Services (ESI), professor, college student, or family visitor status prior to coming to Japan, you will be eligible to stay under those statuses. For those who came to Japan with a Temporary Visitor's Visa, if they are employed full time, they are allowed to change their status of residence to ESI or Professor. Those who cannot be employed were used to be allowed only to extend their temporary visa status. However, on February 17, 2022, the Immigration Service Agency posted a notification on its website that they would allow them to change their status to Designated Activities (with work permit). It is explained that when you cannot extend your status of ESI, Professor, Student etc. you can also change to Designated Activities (with work permit.)

Q14. I want to bring my family to Japan.
A.
If the person has a direct past relationship with Japan (i.e. a former student) and a Japanese national acts as a guarantor, there is a possibility of bringing in the applicant with a short-stay visa. If the applicant wishes to bring his/her family members with him/her, so far, the eligibility is limited to spouse and children, and it is considered necessary to have a status of residence of more than 3 months and a certain level of financial support.

Q15. I want to know information about life in Japan.
A
The following are listed individually below.

Please send us information about opportunities for making connections with the local community.

Q18. Health care and mental health
A.
If you change your status of residence to EHI or Designated Activities for more than 3 months, you will be able to enroll in the National Health Insurance program. There have been no cases so far where National Health Insurance coverage has been approved for short-term stays, so some guarantors have purchased overseas travel insurance (about 90,000 yen/month) before traveling to Japan.

Q19. Procedures on arrival (residence card, resident registration, social security registration, bank account, etc.)
A. After switching status of residence for more than 3 months, you will be issued a residence card by the local government, and can then register for resident registration and social security procedures. After the above, you can open a bank account. The easiest bank to open a bank account for foreigners within 6 months of coming to Japan is Japan Post Bank.

Q20.Child Care and Education
A.
Compulsory education is a right granted to all children, so it is possible to receive it even with a short-stay visa. The enrollment procedures are carried out after consulting directly with the elementary or junior high school in your area of residence. However, each board of education handles the enrollment process differently, and a full explanation may be required. In addition, if a certain number of foreign children are enrolled in the school, additional teachers will be assigned to provide language support. For consultation with individual schools, or if you have needs for your child's Japanese language acquisition or learning support, please contact us using the inquiry form.
