Anyone achieving a masters degree should purchase a hood to wear with your regalia. The color of the velvet on the hood should match the graduate's school, college or specific degree (same as the tassel).

The proper way to wear a masters hood is to:

• Put the hood around your head and neck with the large portion of the hood hanging down your back, velvet (color) side up. 

• When feasible, hook the cord on the front of the hood to your shirt, dress or gown. It’s more comfortable and fashionable if it doesn’t press against your neck.

• From the front, when worn properly, the velvet (color) edge of the hood will be on top. 

• Down your back expose the lining of the hood with PSU colors by turning the velvet border out by hand, exposing the green-and-white bordered by velvet.
