About gowns:
Gowns are made of a recycled fabric. They are not weather-resistant.
They are thin to help reduce heat.
They are sized by body height with a universal sleeve length.
To order: Take note of all the regalia you want, then order at pdx.edu/regalia
Gowns are unisex and should be worn closed.
Sleeves should be above your hands but well below your elbow.
The hem should be mid-way between the knee and ankle. (Whether you are wearing flats or heels, the hem will generally fall in the same spot.)
The academic gown is fastened in the front.
Masters gowns have a sleeve extension that reaches to the hem of the gown. Again, the ACTUAL sleeve, where your arm comes out should be above your hands but below your elbow.
Masters gowns should be worn with a hood that is the color of the the graduate's school, college or specific degree.
They can be worn open.
