Week 3
June 3 - June 9
June 3 - June 9
This week, we have an essay that explores land-based learning. The essay closely examines the critical historical and contemporary importance of land in Indigenous ways of knowing, learning, and being and ongoing efforts to ensure our educational sovereignty. We also have a video about Grand Ronde Tribal Lifeways to reflect on and a Salmon Activity Book to explore. You will also see a short documentary about the life of salmon. As you read and watch , try taking some notes in your journal about your thoughts, feelings, and connections.
Please read the essay Indigenous Learning on Turtle Island: A review of the literature on land-based learning.
Please watch the video Grand Ronde Tribal Lifeways Documentary.
Take a look at the Salmon Activity Book, which is part of the Tribal History/Shared History curriculum.
You will meet with mentors on Zoom Thursday from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
