Crosslisting is required when two or more courses share the same meetings and instructor. This function allows a global cap (total student registration) for these sections. Crosslisting also helps ensure courses are placed in the same location.
Select ‘yes’ under the question, “Is this a cross-listed course?” The form will then open up fields for you to enter the CRN of an existing course or enter the basic information of a course to be created and cross-listed.
Draft Spreadsheet: To create a new crosslist group enter ‘Y’ under the column titled, “NEW XLST Y/N?” Existing crosslist codes will already have a crosslist code under the column titled ‘XLST’.
Also be sure to include what you want the individual courses and overall class enrollment capacities to be.
Set enrollment caps the same for the individual sections and the overall cap: This allows registration to be halted whenever the combined total of the three sections reaches the overall cap. This does not differentiate how many students may register for each section
Set an overall cap equivalent to the combined total of individual sections: This allows for registration to be halted for a particular section when the individual enrollment cap is reached, while registration continues for the other sections until the overall cap is met.
Helps ensure individual classes/CRNs are not roomed in different classrooms.
Helps ensure enrollment does not become greater than intended because registration would otherwise based on separate section caps.
Do not crosslist omnibus sections between subject codes (e.g. Crosslisting sections of SW 399 & PA 510)
Do not crosslist omnibus and discrete numbered sections (e.g. Crosslisting sections of SW 399 & SW 342)
