The Digital Learning Framework

The Digital Learning Framework (DLF) was developed to help teachers and schools to embed digital technologies into teaching learning and assessment. It lays out standards that a school should aim towards in embedding digital technologies.

The layout of this framework mirrors the formation of the School Self Evaluation (SSE) Guidelines, and schools follow the same six step process to create a Digital Learning Plan.

Step 1: The school identifies a focus for their digital learning plan. Schools may align with their SSE focus if they wish.

Step 2: The school gathers evidence from a range of sources in relation to their current practice.

Step 3: The school uses the evidence to make judgements on their current digital learning practices.

Step 4: Based upon where the school feels they are currently positioned relative to the statements of practice in the Framework document, they construct a Digital Learning Plan and identify targets and actions to help them to progress in this regard.

Step 5: The school puts the plan into action. All relevant personnel should be aware of the actions that need to take place at individual teacher, class, subject department and whole-school level.

Step 6: Once the DL Plan has been put into action it is important that it should be monitored and evaluated and adjustments made if necessary. This will help the school in identifying the next focus for their DL planning process, beginning the cycle once more.
