Recreation Open House

Saturday, Oct 1 at Living Arts Centre

Are you interested in working for the City of Mississauga? Want to work in Recreation?


Now is your chance! We are hosting an open house on Saturday, October 1 from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Living Arts Centre (4141 Living Arts Drive) for part-time positions in our Recreation Division.


You will have an opportunity to speak with City staff to learn more about our part-time positions in Aquatics, Community Programs, Operations, Administration, Food Services, Events, and Customer Service.

YMCA Summer Work Exchange Program

Travel to Quebec, meet youth on exchange, get paid work experience! Stay with a local host and enjoy fun group activities exploring your surroundings. Your family must also receive a youth participant at home while you are away.

YIPI

The YIPI program is a paid summer position running full time Monday to Friday (8-4pm), from Tuesday, July 4th to Friday, August 25, 2023.   In 2022, the YIPI program had nearly 80 applicants for 25 summer positions, and for 2023, we are anticipating expansion of the program.

 

In 2022, the YIPI program partnered with Sheridan College (Brampton Campus) and the 2023 program will continue this partnership.  Along with curriculum from Sheridan (guest speakers, certificates), students also spend numerous placement days at various Peel Regional Police facilities.   It is expected that students have the ability to get to all of the various locations throughout the summer by their own means.

NOTE: We anticipate opening the online application process the week of January 23rd, 2023. It will be open for a 2 week time frame.   Students will need to continually check the website for the posting.

Durham Region ABR Initiative

The Region of Durham is committed to addressing Anti-Black Racism and building a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone is welcome and feels included. To support this work, the Income and Employment Support and Business Affairs and Financial Management Divisions at the Region are hosting three information sessions for college and university students who are part of Black communities and looking for employment this summer. These sessions will be supported by the Region’s Human Resources department.


About the information sessions:
Sessions will provide information on the specific criteria for summer students, the job application portal, the hiring process and current summer student positions available.


Session dates:


Summer students who apply and are offered employment with the Region will have the opportunity to work with experienced professionals to develop technical skills and competencies; expand their professional network; and learn about employment opportunities available within the Region after graduation.
