PEEL SUMMER SCHOOL REGISTRATION IS OPEN
Registration opens according to the schedule below. Registration closes on June 17th but it is first come, first served and classes fill up quickly so register asap.
March 1 - 8am - open to Grade 12s only
March 2 -8am - open also to Grade 11s
March 3 - 8am - open also to Grade 10s
March 4 - 8am - open also to Grade 9s
IMPORTANT!
Some sites are In-Person, some are Online - sign up for the one that works best for you. If you choose In-Person, make sure the location is manageable for you based on location. No transportation is provided.

Q. What are the dates and times of Peel Summer School?
A. Summer School begins on Monday, July 4 and runs until Friday, July 29, 2022. Classes begin at 8am and are over at 1:30pm.
Session 1 (55-hour) courses: July 4-15
Session 2 (55-hour) Courses: July 18-29
Full Session (110-hour) Courses: July 4-29
On Monday, July 4 Online Orientation is available to ALL Students!

Q: Who can apply to Peel Summer School?
A. Peel Summer School is open to Grades 9 - 12 students.
Q: When does Summer School Registration Close?
A: Registration will remain open for students to register until June 17. After that date, students must contact their Alpha Guidance Counsellor to register them for any available spots left.
Summer School Student Registration Deadline Date! Guidance Counsellors can register students until June 30.
There will be NO WALK-IN Registrations!
Q: How Do I Register for Peel Summer School?
Access your Student Web through the school website. Click the Student Web icon located on the right-hand side of the school website's home screen.
Login using your student 6 digit # and your personal password
Once inside the Student Web, students must click the Student Web icon on the lower right-hand side of the screen rather than the Summer & Night School dropdown under Student Services on the top of the screen
Students can then select their Summer School course
Once a student selects a Summer School course, a student's placement in the course is secured (provided the course runs)
Remember, Peel Summer School is either online OR in-person this year. There are no waitlists. Students should only register for in-person options that they are able to attend (note the location!)
Guidance counselor approval confirms a student's placement in the course.

Q: What format of learning will Summer School be providing?
A: Course offerings will be delivered online on the Brightspace platform OR in-person.
Online sites include: David Suzuki SS, Louise Arbour SS, Sandalwood Hts SS, Mississauga SS, and Peel elearning Summer school.
In person sites include: Brampton Centennial SS, Castlebrooke SS, Fletcher's Meadow SS, John Fraser SS, Rick Hansen SS, and Woodlands SS.

Q: Will Peel Summer School be providing technical devices to support online learning?
A: Continuing Education is unable to provide technical devices for summer school use.
Q: How Many Summer School Courses Can a Student Enroll in?
A: There are a few enrollment options students can consider:
one (1) full-session new course,110 hours, 4 weeks total, (July 4 - 29) (Students can also take a full-session if they have passed the course and want to complete a full-session for upgrade purposes)
OR
two (2) make-up-session courses (1st half + 2nd half), 55 hours each, 4 weeks total (July 4-29) OR
one (1) 1st-half make-up session course, 55-hours,
2 weeks only (July 4 - 15) OR
one (1) 2nd-half make-up session course, 55 hours,
2 weeks only (July 18 - 29)
OR
two (2) new half-credit session courses in Careers (GLC2O) and Civics (CHV2O) that run concurrently, 55 hours each = 110 hours,4 weeks total (July 4-29) (If you are intending to take Careers & Civics as a new courses, you must enroll in both courses)
*Students who are unsuccessful in Careers (GLC20) and/or Civics (CHV2O) must complete one or both courses, 55 hours, 2 weeks per course
Q: What types of courses can I enroll in?
A: There are different types of courses:
#1.Make-up Course Session (55 hours):
open to students who have completed the same course during the regular school year, and who either still need to earn the credit
open to students who wish to upgrade a passing final mark
#2. Reach-Ahead New Course Session Opportunities (110 hours total):
students may reach ahead to take a summer course at a different grade level, provided they have the prerequisite
Q: Can an English Language Learner enroll in Summer School?
A: ELLs must consult with their Guidance Counsellor and ESL teachers when registering for these courses.
Q: What types of ESL Courses can an ELL take at Summer School?
A: There are two (2) types of courses ELL students can enroll in at Summer School:
#1.ESL Make-Up Courses
ESL DO0 and ESLEO0 are make-up credits intended for students who have already taken the course but who did not earn the credit. It is not recommended that students register for these courses if they are taking them for the first time.
#2. ESL Support New Courses (6th Digit is identified with the letter "L")
Some ESL support courses (e.g., BTT 2OL, ELS 2OL, FSF 1OL) are offered with support for ELLs, but may be also be taken by non-ELLs who require a credit in business, French or additional literacy support
Peel Summer School offers both "New" and "Make-up" ESL courses!
Q: If I register for a course, does that mean it is a guarantee that I will be taking that course?
A: All sections are conditional on enrolment and teacher availability, and are subject to cancellation.
If a section is cancelled:
students will receive an email via their PDSB Gmail account (student#@pdsb.net)
may be contacted by their Guidance Counsellor up until June 17.
Continuing Education will contact students about changes after June 17.
Check your Peel Gmail email regularly; students will be notified if a Summer School course is cancelled by June 17!
Q: What happens if I have a change of plans and I cannot take Summer School Course?
A: Students who have a change of plans on or before June 17 and know they will not be attending Summer School must contact their Alpha Guidance Counselor to be removed from the course.
Contact your Alpha Guidance Counselor if you change your summer plans and need your Summer School course deleted!
Q. What are Peel's Summer School Course Offerings?
A. To view the Peel's Summer School course offerings - check the Summer School website: https://www.peelschools.org/adult-learning/summer-school/Pages/default.aspx.
Be aware that some Peel courses will be offered as online while others are in-person. Therefore, location will be a factor when choosing a summer school course!
Peel Summer School is either online or in-person... so, location is a factor in choosing a course!
Q. Is Peel Summer School offering Summer Co-op or Summer Study/Travel courses?
A. Summer Co-op and Summer Travel/Study will NOT run this summer due to challenges beyond the board's control.
Q: What happens if a summer school course I really need is already FULL before the June 17th deadline date?
A. You will need to complete the attached Continuing Education Application Form and give the completed form to your Alpha Guidance counselor. You will need to complete the form by June 14. (The Guidance counselor will submit the completed application to Continuing Education and the student will have to wait to see if additional spaces will be provided.)

Coding Camp Details

There is no fee for this program
Registration closes on Monday, June 3, 2022
Spaces in the program are limited. Preferential registration will be given to students who identify as Black, African or Afro-Caribbean and/or Indigenous. Students will be registered in the remaining spaces in the program on a first come, first served basis
All students who register for the online program will be asked to pick up a “Camp in a Box” kit from their home school that will contain materials to support student participation in the Coding Camp program. Registered families will be contacted by their child’s school when the kit is ready for pick-up.
