You can explore the following options:
Optional: Complete a Pre-apprenticeship, or College Certificate, or Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP)
Find an employer and get hired
If you’re 18 or older: apply for an apprenticeship through the Skilled Trades Ontario Portal (STOP)
If you’re 16 to 17-years-old: print and complete the printed application, get it signed by a parent or guardian, then submit it to your local Employment Ontario apprenticeship training office for approval
Sign a training agreement with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD)
Complete an apprenticeship, along with required hours for on-the-job training (you will receive a Certificate of Apprenticeship within six weeks after your sponsor notifies MLITSD that you have completed your training)
If applicable to your trade, complete the apprenticeship exam to obtain your Certificate of Qualification

Gain practical workplace skills and experience that will help launch their new career or expand their employment opportunities.

Be paid an hourly rate (at least minimum wage) for the duration of their full-time Experiential Work Placement(s).
Upon successful completion, participants may be offered permanent employment by their host employer.
The Electrician Pre-Apprenticeship Program at Humber College is a tuition-free program funded by the Government of Canada that is designed as a transition step to finding an apprenticeship.

What is an APPRENCTICESHIP?
Like attending a college and university, an apprenticeship is a form of post-secondary education. The big difference is that the majority of an apprenticeship is spent on the job, learning practical skills and earning money. Apprenticeships offer a bridge between education and work, and can lead to rewarding and high-paying careers because you’re already out there working and have the hands-on skills employers are looking for.
Judith Nyman has over twenty trade/ craft related courses allowing students to gain exposure to the various rewarding careers as a tradespersons. Understanding academic trade prerequisite for course requirements allows JNSS students a pathway into red seal trades and non-red seal trades.
