Regional Learning Choices Programs (RLCP) empower students by providing an opportunity to develop and explore skills in a particular area of interest. The Peel board provides secondary students from across Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon with 11 different Secondary Regional Learning Choices Programs. The programs are open to all eligible students. The programs are open to all students, except students who are on a visa. The entry point for all RLCP programs is grade 9.
Please note that students in the Elementary Regional Learning Choices Program will not automatically be accepted into Secondary Regional Learning Choices Program. They must apply to the Secondary RLCP in the same way all other students are applying, and participate in the same assessment process.

AP- Advanced Placement: The Advanced Placement (AP) program is a university readiness program in which students will fulfill the requirements of the Ontario curriculum, while experiencing additional enrichment to prepare them for the senior level AP courses. The program, designed by a U.S. education association called the College Board, is catered for highly motivated and academically inclined students who have a strong foundation in fundamental numeracy and literacy knowledge and skills. Students taking AP courses have the opportunity to learn first year university material while still in high school. AP is a global program and AP courses are recognized by universities throughout North America and beyond. John Fraser Secondary School will be hosting a Virtual Advanced Placement Information Night as a Microsoft Teams LIVE event on Monday, November 2nd. Link and Time to follow. The Regional Arts Program provides a comprehensive education in the Arts, while learning the Ontario curriculum. There are four areas of Arts programming available: Dance, Drama, Music (instrumental/vocal) or Visual Arts. Students must audition to be accepted into the program. For incoming grade 9 students living South of the 401, the Arts program is located at Cawthra Park Secondary School. For incoming grade 9 students living North of the 401, the Arts program is located at Mayfield Secondary School. This year's Virtual Open House is on October 27, 2020. All Regional Learning Choice Programs in Peel will host an Open House in a virtual format this year due to the current health restrictions.
Cawthra Park will host their virtual Open House on the evening of October 27th. We will have a live portion that parents and families can tune in to watch, and then be followed by individual meetings that will be hosted by the Head of each Arts department, Guidance, Special Education and Administration in order for you to ask specific questions about auditions, program requirements, fees, and what makes Cawthra Park the best choice for your child's education.

Audition appointments will be emailed to the address provided on your application before December 18, 2020. Please ensure that your child is not scheduled for any appointments, field trips or family holidays during the audition dates.
Auditions for the 2021-22 school year will be held on January 25, 26, 27 2021.
The Graphic and Design Management (GDM) program focuses on many pathways related to design such as graphic, fashion, architecture, video game design and animation, interior, urban, industrial design and engineering, and packaging design. GDM students will gain valuable experience in all aspects of the design industry. They will acquire specific qualifications required to pursue various fields of study beyond high school. In grade 11, students will also have the opportunity to acquire the Specialist High Skills Major in Business or Information and Communication Technology.
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) is an academically rigorous program leading to expanded opportunities for admission into highly sought-after programs at university. The IB Diploma program is accessed through the Middle Years Program International Baccalaureate (MYP IB) at Glenforest and Turner Fenton. The MYP IB uses the Ontario Curriculum in a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. Students access the IB Diploma program at Harold M. Brathwaite and Erindale through a Pre-IB program using Ontario Curriculum to develop well-rounded students who are prepared to respond to challenges and apply what they learn in real-world, complex and unpredictable situations.
The International Business and Technology (IBT) program is a specialized regional program that focuses on Business and Technology through the lens of the Ontario curriculum. The program engages the modern learner with a global focus using project-based, cross-curricular, inquiry-driven learning that is enhanced by technology. Students focusing on Business learn how to incorporate a variety of business models into project-based entrepreneurial learning challenges. Similarly, students focusing on Technology learn skills required to find success in robotics, STEM, and other new and emerging technologies. Throughout the program, students will further develop the 21st century competencies: critical thinking and problem solving, learning to learn, entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity, collaboration, communication and global citizenship.
The International and Executive Leadership Academy builds leaders for tomorrow. The program provides opportunities for students to take part in local, national and global projects and complete industry-recognized certifications connected to social justice initiatives. Students will participate in the prestigious and internationally recognized Duke of Edinburgh Award to further develop their leadership skills.
The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program integrates a hands-on, minds-on philosophy and provides students with an interactive approach to learning the Ontario Secondary School curriculum. SciTech continues to be a dynamic and evolving program through the ongoing dialogue with post-secondary educational programs and industry partners to reflect our ever-changing world. To promote enriching opportunities, students will be required to use industry standard technology, engage in dialogue with guest speakers, participate in excursions, competitions and clubs tailored to create unique STEM experiences. The Regional Skilled Trades (RST) program is an applied program focusing on Skilled Trades, leading to apprenticeship pathways and opportunities to meet labour force demands locally, regionally, and provincially. This unique program is for students who are experiential learners. Core subjects will be offered at the applied level with high level of exposure to technology shops in a wide variety of trades, including red-seal trade areas. The RST program allows students to choose courses that specialize in the following sectors: Construction Technology (electrical, plumbing, framing, etc.), Transportation Technology (auto body, auto service, etc.), Hospitality (chef training, baking, etc.), and Personal Services (hairstyling, aesthetics, etc.). In addition, the following pathways are available at West Credit SS: Child Care Practitioner, Green Industries (horticulture, landscaping etc.), and Manufacturing Technology (welding, machining, fabrication etc.).
Please note that applicants (including Peel board students) will be requested to bring in a hard copy of their Grade 7 Final report card, Grade 8 progress report and an IEP (if the student has one) at the time of application.

The Peel Regional Strings program provides students, from beginner to highly advanced, with the opportunity to study a string instrument while in high school. As a part of the Peel Regional Strings Program, students will collaborate with other instrumentalists, creating an orchestral experience unique in the Peel region. Research has shown that studying music improves academic ability, self-discipline, motivation, and self-confidence. The Regional Strings Programs provide wonderful opportunities for students to develop critical thinking and creative processing skills—important skills required in the 21st century. The Regional Sports Program is an inclusive, athletic-focused learning environment that supports diversity in education through a commitment to healthy active living and provides a variety of leadership and healthy lifestyle opportunities for all students. Physical activity is crucial to the way students think and feel. It has a positive impact on overall physical health, mental well-being, and on the capacity to learn. The Regional Sports Program is focused on delivering a quality physical education program that increases students’ interests and active involvement in physical literacy, fitness, and leadership. These opportunities will create and promote the development of healthy active living and leadership skills that can be utilized within the school and greater community.

Physical education all year with regional students completing 8 courses over the 4 years of secondary school (1 physical education course each semester)
Required involvement in co-curricular athletics and/or community involvement to build leadership skills

RSP Open House: Nov. 7, 2019
The Transportation Engineering and Technology Program at Bramalea Secondary School offers students the opportunity to learn in a variety of areas that include land, marine and aerospace within the transportation industry. Students in the program will complete all requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma that are required to follow all of the post-secondary pathways including university, college, apprenticeship and the workplace. The program has aligned with many industry and educational partnerships to prepare students for entry into post-secondary programs, or a career in the transportation industry upon graduation.
