Ability Gives is an equipment grant program created by Ability Online for helping families with children under the age of 18 with a disability or a complex medical condition, including ASD. Grants were given for adapted trikes, walkers, adapted strollers, etc. To be eligible you need to be an active parent of Ability Online. We just ask that at least one member of the family be active on the site -logging in at least once a week to use the many features we have to offer.
Passport is a program for individuals who are 18+ with a developmental disability offered by The Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.
They have expanded the list of eligible expenses under the Passport program to support people and their families while community-based activities and settings are closed. These changes allow you to use your funding for goods and services that may make it easier for you to stay at home during this time and practise physical distancing.
Sensory equipment (i.e. trampolines, adapted trikes, weighted wearables, etc.) is being approved as a lockdown exception, on a case by case basis. It is advised that families needing this equipment contact OAP directly to justify need and get approval to purchase the equipment.
