Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
About the BYOD Option
While P-CCS continues to offer the One to One device initiative, we have also been supportive of students bringing devices that they are most comfortable using. This is often referred to as Bring Your Own Device or BYOD program. If you would like to read more about the Board Policy as it applies to “Personal Communication Devices” (PCDs) for BYOD at PCCS, please access this link: www.neola.com/plymouthcanton-mi/search/policies/po7530.03.htm
In order to ensure the best experience for students bringing their own devices to P-CCS, the following supports have been in place since the 2018-2019 school year:
Improvements to our wireless network with the addition of a dedicated network for personal devices where students only have to log in one time to establish access rather than daily, making for a more seamless experience.
Offering device recommendations that families can use when making decisions about what devices they should be considering when purchasing (see link below)
Systems and structures put into place to support schools with implementing BYOD
Recommended Device Specifications
P-CCS strongly recommends the following specifications for any family wishing to provide a BYOD option for their child: links.pccsk12.com/devices Students using devices that do not meet the recommended specifications via the link above, may be asked to complete a non-digital version of an assignment due to compatibility with the software used as part of the assignment.
