I'm an artist, a photographer, educator, trail-runner and backpacker who is also a parent, a partner and a dog-mom. My trail, outdoor and adventure experiences started when I was a kid and attended the local YMCA camp in the Sierras, Camp Jack Hazard. There I learned wilderness-based backpacking skills and as a teen and young adult, spent my summers in the mountains working in the kitchen, as a counselor to campers, director staff and arts and crafts. Since moving to Oregon, I've learned to appreciate a different climate and landscape in the PNW and have been getting muddy and churning dirt on the trails since 2005. Every year I go out with a small group of friends for a number of days to a week or more, exploring Idaho trails and trying to learn to love switchbacks.
I love running, lifting heavy things and the social connections I've made through the years with the folks I met at the gym or out on the trail. I'm not great with heights but I'm learning to love Bouldering and love being a beginner.
As a photographer, my practice ranges from medium and large format black and white film to digital photography and photo editing and illustration as well as more recent work that dives back a little into the past and allows me to learn a tremendous amount through wet plate collodion/tintype photography and digital / chemical hybrid work with cyanotypes and digital negatives.
My current artistic focus is on how iterative and charted patterns can benefit from a layered and iterative process - how the mediums of photography, cyanotype mixed and woven together with silk screening and illustration as well as relief block printing work together to complete my thought process.
As for my other work - I am in love with color and am very much into the tactile nature of art. I am a knitter, an independent fiber dyer as well as someone who sews for enjoyment and function and meditation.
