PCC Library employees are available to help you navigate the many remote services and resources we have available. You can get research help and other support via chat, email, and video appointments. For more information, please see: https://www.pcc.edu/library/pcc-library-resources-and-help-when-off-campus/
The libraries will continue to offer the following services in the building:
Borrow library materials - books, music, films, equipment, laptops
Use a computer
Print, copy, or scan
Group study rooms – the campus libraries will provide some access to group study and family rooms; limited to one person at a time, on a first-come, first-served basis. Use is limited to 2 hours per day.
Students enrolled in credit classes will be able to check out Chromebooks from the student equipment collection for the entire term.
Computer labs for work time
You can request one-on-one help with a librarian on research or reading projects
The RWC is here to assist with any reading or writing task, including essays, response papers, outlines, speeches, resumes, lab reports, and scholarship applications. Each visit is an opportunity to receive one-on-one, same time feedback for up to 30 minutes.
Students can make up to one appointment a day for a video chat, or simply call in and talk to a tutor. In order to allow the chance for as many students as possible to have daily access to the RWC, if a student makes more than one appointment in a day, the additional appointments will be canceled.
Here is what you as a student should do when using tutoring:
Use your PCC email so that the system works as it is intended to.
Provide a copy of the assignment that your instructor gave you. It works best if this is Google Form so you can share it with your tutor, but we can work with any format. If you can send this ahead of time, this really helps your tutor be ready for your session.
Give yourself time: writing and reading are processes! Come early in the process so you have time to revise (and maybe come again!) well before an assignment is due.
Know that tutors can’t edit or “fix” your writing: we will help you identify patterns of error and learn how to tackle them.
Make a habit of visiting us! The more you visit, the more comfortable you will get with the process. You can now make an appointment with a specific tutor as well, so you can work with one person throughout the process of revision.
