Learning Technology and Innovation Division has acquired a Matterport camera and weʻre capturing pilot spaces to explore the production process and create sample content to share with our campus community. The Matterport is an image camera to take 360° pictures that also uses infrared sensors to capture an architectural scan of a space so that a ʻdigital twinʻ that users can travel through is produced. You can view samples from the links above, or click on the play button below to experience the Southeast Campus Faculty Production Lab embedded in this page. Click and drag to look around or click to a white circle on the floor of the model to move to that spot.
These scans can also have ʻhot spotsʻ added that link to additional content- images, audio, video and other web pages to create an interactive experience.
Weʻve captured a digital twin of one of our busiest learning lab spaces on Southeast campus - SCOM 306, and annotated it to present our laboratory safety guidelines for learners in an immersive tour. We expect this technology to be a beneficial additional support module that will help preserve valuable on campus lab use for learning objectives support, and be especially effective for our busy blended learning students who concentrate their on-campus lab use time.
