STEP 2: Register your Course CRN
For faculty whose courses are included in the CBL Program’s database, they will receive an invitation to register.
The registration will also be found in the Community-Based Learning Faculty GivePulse group.
When registering instructors will be asked to:
Provide basic information about their course(s) and the CBL assignment/project
(They will have the option to upload your syllabus and/or your CBL project/assignment description)
Agree to CBL Instructor Expectations
Acknowledge CBL Learning Agreement Expectations of Student, Community Partner, and Instructor
If you are teaching different courses with a CBL assignment/project, you will be able to include all the CRNs in your registration.
Once your CRNs are approved, the CBL Program will:
Tag CRN in Banner in order to sync w/GivePulse
Set up a page in GivePulse for your CRN which will have:
Instructions for students
CRN specific CBL Learning Agreement and Liability Waiver
Contact you to discuss any specific arrangements needed for your course based on your project/assignment parameters.
Customizing details shared on your CRN's GivePuse page
Setting up course specific community engagement opportunities
Creating online survey or forms
STEP 3: Make Arrangements for CBL Orientation
As instructors, we expect that you will be going over the CBL assignment/project description and learning objectives with students.
The CBL Program will provide a general CBL & GivePulse Orientation for students who plan to complete a CBL assignment/project.
The orientation is meant to provide students with:
Steps they need to get started
Resources and tools to assist them in connecting with community partners, tracking and reporting their impacts
*Due to limited staffing, it is preferred that instructors choose to have students watch a pre recorded orientation (See student resources in Module 4) and there will be drop in office hours for students who might need additional support
Instructors do have the option to schedule an in class orientation, but if schedules can’t be accommodate then the recording will be made available to their classes instead
