My English Skills
When I started studying English I felt scared and then I felt interested. When I was memorizing vocabulary,it challenged me. It is frustrating to live 13 years in the United States and not speak English . One morning, I decided to study English at Portland Community College and I felt my life has changed. I have had difficulties but I have tried to overcome them.I don’t have much free time but I enjoy my classes very much, especially grammar and writing. When I am in classes, I get frustrated that I can’t speak English and can’t communicate. It has been interesting to learn more grammar. I understand grammar. I think my writing is good but I am very nervous when I speak English. My pronunciation isn’t good. It is so-so. I don’t want to stop studying English. I want to know the reason for every grammar rule. I love to write and I wish I could write a story about my life. To improve my English speaking and listening skills, I am going to watch movies in English and speak English with my friends.

My Road in English
I have been in the United States for one year and in this time, I have learned interesting things about English. English is very interesting but also frustrating for me. I am amazed to learn so many new words and how the people use them for communication. Each meaning is wonderful. I think my strength in English is that I can quickly understand grammar. I have a good brain; I remember everything. Also, I have improved my listening and I have learned many new words. My difficulty is speaking. When somebody tries to speak with me, I feel nervous and forget words and I don’t know what they said. To get over my difficulties, I’m going to make a friend who doesn’t speak Spanish for conversation practicing. I’m going to listen to more songs in English to improve my listening. I’m going to try to be confident.

Learning English
Speaking in English is frustrating for me because when I speak with people, I don’t remember the words. And also because I’m a little shy. My strength is reading because I usually read a lot on the Internet. Also, I read stories in English to my nephew. The most difficult thing for me is speaking with people because I'm afraid that they will judge me. Another difficult thing is my pronunciation because sometimes I forget how to pronounce some words.
Something I have to do is talk more and make friends to practice my English. Also, I'm going to practice speaking in English every day.

My English
Sometimes English is frustrating for me because many words have a similar pronunciation and it is confusing. Also English is interesting for me because I think it is the most used language in the world. Grammar and vocabulary are my problems. I don’t know many words and I don’t know past and future tenses. My strength is speaking. I don’t worry about mistakes. I try to practice with my kids to learn new words but they speak so fast. I think my pronunciation is good. I’m going to read more to learn new words and also I’m going to download an English app on my phone to study English in other ways. My goal is to speak, read, and write English very well.

Hi Ceci,
I'm studying at Portland Community College, located at the Sylvania campus in Oregon.
I study on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in the morning from 9:00 am to 11:45 am. When I finish class, I go to work. When it is 3 pm, I go to my house, and I eat my lunch.
When it's 4:00 pm, I go to work. When it's 9:00 pm I go to my house, and it's a full day.
In the U.S.A., we have seasons. Currently, we are in fall. In this season, the sun is shy and the rain begins with more strength, so the leaves of the trees change color and fall.
How are you? How is your family? Do you have a boyfriend? Are you studying?
Write back!
See you soon,
Camila

Hi Ana,
I'm writing to you to tell you about my journey. I'm taking English classes, and I'm in level three. My goal is to finish all eight levels. My husband and I are happy, and we are making good friends. Every three months we go on a trip, so the next plan is to visit New York.
You can't imagine how I miss you, especially when I have my coffee in the morning.
In Oregon, the weather is hard, but everything else is good.
I hope to see you this summer when I finish my classes.
Best regards,
Amani

Hi Maria,
I feel very happy, I hope you are happy now. I am studying English three days a week for three months. Every day I go for a run in the morning to relax. At night, I work ten hours each day. I cook with my brother in my apartment, or we go out to a restaurant. Right now I am cleaning my room, and I am practicing my English reading, writing, and listening to music.
How are you doing? Where do you go for a walk in Guatemala? Where are you now?
What are you doing now?
Good bye,
Ricardo

Hi Ana,
I'm sitting in my classroom, and we're studying English. I'm in level 3. Teacher Ana sometimes gets annoyed with me because I like to sing and dance in class, but that's just how I am. I feel very good with my classmates because I like to play with them sometimes or most of the time.
Sometimes, I don't do my homework because I don't have time.
I love college, and I'm enjoying my English class. Also, I would like to study other things one day.
Tell me about you! How are you? How are you doing?
See you soon,
John (The best)
