About Mrs. Gambill

I have been at the Poplar Bluff Junior High for seven years and with Poplar Bluff Schools for 21 years.  I got my start at Lake Road Elementary where I taught third and fourth grades.  I moved to the Poplar Bluff Fifth and Sixth Grade Center.  While there, I taught math, English classes, and social studies.

It was at the Fifth and Sixth Grade Center where I realized my love of teaching English skills.  I wanted to reach out to an older grouping of students requiring more complex literature and writing skills.   PBJHS has been a great experience for me.  For 2017-2018 I was honored by being recognized as the PBJHS Teacher of the Year.  I am grateful for the honor and grateful for working with a great team of teachers and staff.  Teacher of the Year Link

I really enjoy incorporating digital resources with what students read and write about.  If you take a look at the Photo Gallery page, you will see a few samples of what past students have done.  Students especially enjoy video making and photography.

These are a few of my favorite things.

Favorite Book:  "The Book Thief"

Favorite Food:  Nachos

Favorite Drink:  Diet Dr. Pepper

Favorite Music:  Classic Rock/Pop

Favorite Pass Time:   Spending time at home and being outdoors, gardening, hobby farming

The Worst:  Cooking, I hate it!

The Worst:  Hunting, ugh!

Below you will see some photographs of things that I love!

I enjoy riding horses.  Basically, I ride around the farms near my home.  I have three of my own horses that I adore!

Any Early Morning Rest

In a cool summer dew, my boys were resting and soaking up the wet grass on what became a very hot day.

This is my son, James Kenneth.  He will be in the seventh grade this year at PBJHS.  He enjoys Minecraft and Fortnite.  Reading, no so much . . .

We try to plan vacations to Florida. This was a fun trip to Universal Studios!  Luckily, we ended 2019 with a family vacation to Disney theme parks.

My husband, James, is a farmer.  This is a typical evening at the front door during hauling time. There are generally grains of rice, corn, or soybeans that need to be swept up each day.

In the last year, I have taken up kayaking. I have been on Current, Black, and Jack's Fork Rivers, along with Lake Wappapello.  It is really a good way to have fun while social distancing.

I love this cat, Kiki.  She is a good pet.

I really enjoy spending time riding atvs and dirtbikes.

James Gambill is my son.  He is in 10th grade this year at PBHS.
