Rose A. Clark, M.S., LCADC, SAC
"When I realized that my past, pain, and journey, were all a part of my purpose: I was set free".
-Lalah Delia
My name is Rose A. Clark, It is with great enthusiasm that I begin my eleventh year in education as the Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) for the Paulsboro School District. as an educator for the past ten years, I have had the opportunity to work in a classroom setting alongside a diverse population of students. My experience entails working as a substitute teacher, classroom aide, co-teacher, and supplemental support paraprofessional for students with IEP’s and 504 Plans.
Since 2016, I have been on my own educational journey. I graduated from Drexel University with my Bachelor degree in Behavioral Health Counseling and Master degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Canyon University. While completing the course work, I completed over 4,000 hours of clinical service with clients who were diagnosed with a substance use disorder and/or mental health diagnosis. This led me to becoming a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Clinician (LCADC).
Even though I have worked in a clinical setting helping individuals who were living with a dual diagnosis. My heart has always been to help young adolescents, so I decided to attend Rowan University to receive my SAC endorsement. My experience as a substance abuse counselor has given me the experience and knowledge of how substance use/abuse affects an individual and their families. I truly believe that taking preventative measures through the coordination and delivery of intervention and referral services in a school setting can instill hope and change among our youth today.
A few of my core educational and counseling beliefs include:
To abide by the ethical code and standards referencing client/student confidentiality (42 CFR Part 2).
Maintaining strong parent, school, and community partnerships and relationships.
To help identify, address, monitor, educate, promote, coordinate, and oversee district prevention/intervention programs and services for all students, staff, and families within the school district.
To allow students to develop and recognize their uniqueness, and in return they will grow and mature through graduation and beyond discovering the best version of themselves.
In addition to my professional resume, I am the wife of sixteen years to my husband Ken. And a mother to our two children Steven (13) and AJ (10). I have a beautiful Black Labrador, named Bella.
Counseling Perspective
I personally believe that everyone has the opportunity to become the best version of themselves. Every human being is unique; their personal struggles, sacrifices, and successes have equipped them to develop their own identity. As a Licensed Certified Alcohol and Drug Clinician (LCADC), I have listened to my clients express their physical, psychological, and emotional pain in sessions. I can relate to most of the hardships, yet instead of allowing the pain to defeat my purpose in life, I developed resiliency through the power of self-care.
As a counselor, I believe I have the opportunity to be an effective leader. It takes a lot of self-discipline to practice what you teach. Modeling good behaviors, such as practicing self-care, is just one example. Self-care includes taking care of your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs throughout the day. Self-care takes a lot of intentional focus, time, and energy; it equips a person to become more mindful and self-aware of themselves throughout life, especially during stressful circumstances. I sincerely believe that those who have a desire to change will create change!
