The next step for finalizing this artwork is with watercolors. This medium is quite an astounding paint substance that can be thin and transparent or thick and opaque.

Watch and you will see the process from light washes of colors to thick shadow shapes.

Ink is one of the oldest mediums. There are many types of inks to use, but the most common is India ink.

Originally made in China. only called "India ink" due to trade exports, this ink is permanent and waterproof when dry. Carbon black (collected soot from burning wood) is mixed with shellac to create a very durable medium.

The conclusion to my last illustration: adding the background.

Backgrounds tell another part of the story. They set the subject in a location, grounding them to the surrounding world. I implore you all to carefully consider your background in the next work of art you make.

Today's drawing session is all about dinosaurs! So, here is how this will work. Below are links to the reference images I drew from. Open them on your device, use regular printer paper and a pencil, draw what you see. The challenge is to draw the dinosaur very large so they fill the paper.
